The Committee

The formation and beginning of activities of the Committee of Guidance of the State System of Museums (COSISEM, in Portuguese initials) are a millstone in the process of SISEM-SP’s institutional consolidation.

Predicted since the foundation of the system, in 1986, the Committee was only effectively formed in 2012, and being composed of thirteen members:

• One vacancy to the coordinator of the Unit of Preservation of the Museological Heritage (UPPM);
• One titular vacancy and one substitute vacancy to the Technical Group of Coordination of SISEM-SP (GTC SISEM-SP);
• One titular vacancy and one substitute vacancy to the Group of Preservation of the Museological Heritage from UPPM (GPPM/UPPM);
• One titular vacancy and one substitute vacancy to the staff of teachers from the Technical Course for Museums from the State Centre of Technological Education Paula Souza (CEETEPS);
• One titular vacancy and one substitute vacancy to the university courses of the museological field from the universities of São Paulo;
• One titular vacancy and one substitute vacancy to the Brazilian Section of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Brasil);
• Two titular vacancies and two substitute vacancies to representatives of museological institutions elected biennially during the Paulista Meeting of Museums.

Meeting once in two months period, the COSISEM works as the main advisory organ of the Technical Group of Coordination of SISEM-SP, developing a participative discussion on the premises and guidelines of the cultural policy for the museological sector in the State of São Paulo and, especially, on the State Database of Museums, officially instituted in June 2016.
